August and September fixture changes
West Ham United's August and September fixture changes revealed

Six West Ham United fixtures in August and September have new dates and kick-off times after the latest round of broadcast selections was confirmed.

With the season opener against Manchester City on Sunday 7 August already selected for live broadcast in the UK by Sky Sports, our first away game – at Nottingham Forest the following weekend – will also be shown on Sky Sports.

The trip to the City Ground will now take place on Sunday 14 August, with kick-off at 2pm.

Our home game against Brighton & Hove Albion will move to Sunday 21 August, and our away game at Aston Villa is set for Sunday 28 August, with both games kicking-off at 2pm.

Neither will be broadcast live in the UK, but have moved to their new slots due to our participation in the UEFA Europa Conference League Play-Off Round on the preceding Thursdays.

Next, our first London derby of the new season – at home to Tottenham Hotspur – will be played on Wednesday 31 August, with kick-off at 7.45pm. This match will be broadcast live in the UK by BT Sport.

Into September, and our trip across the capital to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge is now scheduled for 2pm on Sunday 4 September. Sky Sports will show this game live in the UK, although the date does remain subject to change should Chelsea’s UEFA Champions League game the following midweek be set for the Tuesday.

The London Stadium fixture against Newcastle United has also been chosen for live UK broadcast by Sky Sports and will be played at 2pm on Sunday 11 September.

Finally, should we progress to the UEFA Europa Conference League Group Stage, our trip to Everton, currently scheduled for Saturday 17 September, would also move.

The fact that the CHERRIES at home at the end of Oct would probably have been our first Sat 3pm game, but it's now been moved to the Monday says it all!

Absolutely shite to be honest. Football used to be 3pm on Saturdays with the odd exception, now its actually rare to have one at that time.

Makes away days much more difficult, people having to take days off work etc, especially with trains getting worse.

Fair play to anyone who still does every away game

West Ham United's fixture changes for October have been confirmed.

Our home Premier League game with Wolverhampton Wanderers will now have a 5.30pm kick-off on Saturday 1 October, with this match being broadcast live in the UK by Sky Sports.

Later in the month, our trip to Anfield to take on Liverpool will be played on Wednesday 19 October, with a 7.30pm kick-off. This match will be broadcast live in the UK by Amazon Prime Sport.

Next is a Monday Night Football assignment for David Moyes' men, who take on AFC Bournemouth at London Stadium on Monday 24 October. This match will be shown by Sky Sports in the UK and will have an 8pm kick-off.

Then, to round off the month, we will head to Manchester United on Sunday 30 October, with kick-off set for 4.30pm and Sky Sports broadcasting to fans in the UK.

Supporters should note that should we progress to the UEFA Europa Conference League Group Stage, our home game with Fulham, currently set for Saturday 8 October, and away match at Southampton a week later will also be subject to change.

October TV games now announced. Still no sign of a Sat 3pm home game, Fulham will be moved if we get to group stages of the ECL.

Prefer Saturdays at 3, more time to recover from post match boozing, but also happy with Sundays more time to anticipate how massive we will be.
Pleased they moved the Forest game, I can now make it

Oxsaw - Well blow me, i did the same thing, but I got my gig from the Hx Unigate depot near the Chequers Pub, circa 84. Saturday' only, use to love it, always finished in time to just make a home game, got paid 5 quid for the morning, which at the time was the equivalent of a weeks wages doing a paper round.Happy days.

I understand that - but are there enough people who work Saturday (morning) these days to fill a top level football stadium every other Saturday afternoon?

I ask this as a milkman's assistant who worked every Saturday morning from the mid 60s through till about 1971 or so and used to race to get to the ground from the dairy at Romford after we'd unloaded the crates of empty bottles and cashed-up. Sometimes I'd make it, sometimes not.

Saturday 3 p.m. starts are still a nostalgic nod to the past, whatever way you look at it.

I didn't say they worked in factories.

Where are the factories these people still work in that provide the majority of fans attending a game at the local ground?

Mike,

You lead a sheltered life if you don't think anyone works on a Saturday morning these days, regardless of what other days they also work.

Saturday piss ups home & away are much better than on a Sunday for me couldn't give a fuck about how it came about tbh.....

Re: August and September fixture changes
Saturday, 3 p.m. kick-offs are a legacy from when society decided that it's factories opened Saturday mornings, and men made their way to the ground after clocking off at 12/1 p.m.

I doubt that any football fan does a 5 1/2 day week these days so the main reason for retaining a 3 p.m. start to a game is purely a romantic one.

Manuel,

WHU is my priority. We could kick off at 4am on a Monday morning and I’ll be there with bells on.

Crossed - Fwiw, that's not even logical. So you have no preference whatsoever on when you prefer to go to games, just because you go to every game?

Re: August and September fixture changes
Sundays and late kick offs suit me best these days.

If im going to a game which is very rare then give me the 3pm Saturday every time, if for nothing else old time sake and reminiscing of a world gone by and of my youth!

Used to be a whole ritual on Saturdays with the build up to the game, Morning newspapers, then football focus on TV was the starter, a bite to eat then a few pints before kick off wondering if the match of the day cameras would be present, back then no one knew which games would be featured so seeing the cameras meant it was worth coming home early from the Pub especially if we won! No replays or watch it on demand back then although when the video machine came out you could, just hoped my dad hadn’t fallen asleep so not reordered it.

Fuck me how different it was back then; every game was at 3pm on Saturday.
